Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what we never do with it.
01 · What We Collect
When you create an account or sign in, we collect:
- Email address (for sign-in and account recovery)
- Display name (if you provide one)
- Profile photo (only if you sign in with Google)
- Authentication tokens managed by Firebase
We don't collect payment info — SLUR is free to read.
02 · How We Use It
We use your information only to:
- Authenticate your account
- Save your reading progress and bookmarks
- Send sign-in magic links when requested
- Fix bugs and improve the experience
05 · Security
Authentication uses Firebase's industry-standard security. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Connections are encrypted via HTTPS.
That said, no system is perfectly secure. Use a strong, unique password — or use the magic-link sign-in to skip passwords entirely.
06 · Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct or update your information
- Delete your account at any time
- Export your reading progress (where applicable)
To exercise any of these, contact us via the about page.
07 · Children's Privacy
SLUR is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.
08 · Changes
If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date will change. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
